Our Process

A clearer path from first conversation to finished project.

Premium windows, doors, skylights, and hardware come with a lot of decisions. Our process is designed to make each one easier, with one team guiding the details from selection through service.

A six-stage process

The work moves better when the details stay connected.

A successful project is not just about choosing the right product. It is about making sure the product fits the architecture, the quote reflects the real scope, the order is placed correctly, delivery works with the schedule, and any questions after install have a clear path back to the team.
That is how we work. One conversation leads to the next, and the details stay with us from the first visit through long-term support.

01

Initial Consultation

Typically within a week of first contact.

Start with whatever you have: a photo, a plan, a window schedule, a door opening, or a few sentences about the project. We will respond within one business day and help determine the right next step, whether that is a phone call, a showroom visit, a plan review, or a visit to the house.
The goal is simple: understand the project well enough to point you in the right direction.

02

Selection & Specification

Usually two to four conversations or showroom visits, depending on scope.

This is where the project starts to take shape. We narrow the options by style, material, performance, budget, timeline, and how the product will be used day to day.
In the showroom, you can compare wood, clad, steel, aluminum, glass, hardware, finishes, and configurations at full scale. We document selections clearly so the details do not get lost between conversations.

03

Site Measure, Quote & Approvals

Timing depends on project complexity.

Before anything is ordered, we measure. On replacement and renovation work a member of our team comes to the house to verify every opening, check the condition of the surrounding wall and trim, and confirm exactly how each unit will go in. A quote is only as good as the measurements behind it.
Then we prepare a detailed quote with the products, options, configurations, hardware, and installation scope for the project. For historic work, builder-led jobs, and architect-designed projects, we help support the documentation, drawings, and product information required for review.

04

Order & Lead Time

Lead times vary by manufacturer and product type.

After the contract is signed and specifications are confirmed, we release the order with the manufacturer. Lead times depend on the product line, customization, finish, size, and project scope. We set expectations early and coordinate timing around the construction or installation sequence.

05

Delivery & Installation

Coordinated around the project schedule.

Products come to us first, not to your driveway. We inspect every unit against the order and finish, paint, or stain what needs it before it goes out.
When we manage the installation, the crew on site is ours: skilled carpenters who specialize in windows and doors and have installed the products we sell for years. They protect the floors and the landscaping, remove the old units, set, shim, flash, and seal each new one, handle the interior and exterior trim, and leave the house clean at the end of each day. A member of our team checks in during the install and walks the finished work with you.
For builder-managed installations, we coordinate delivery, documentation, and field support so the crew has what they need.

06

Service & Warranty

Support that continues after the project is complete.

Windows and doors are mechanical. An adjustment, a sticking sash, a strike plate, a screen, a question years later: all of it comes back to the same team that sold and installed the work. We keep the records for every project, so when you call about a door from seven years ago we know exactly what it is.
Warranty claims go through us, not a call center. We handle the manufacturer conversation and coordinate the fix.

★★★★★
Michael did a great job of managing our project from start to finish, Lindsay guided us through all the aesthetic choices, and the Owner even made a site visit or 2 to ensure all the measurements were correct and that the install was completed properly. Good contractors are hard to find, so we will definitely be returning to them for our next round of exterior upgrades.

★★★★★
The staff, in particular Michael and Lindsay, were very knowledgeable about the products and very helpful in making final selections. Lead time is important, as it may take several weeks after placing an order to take receipt of the materials (so plan ahead), but have confidence that you’ll receive what you’ve ordered and that WWD staff will follow up as appropriate to ensure that everything is handled to your satisfaction.

Common questions

Good to know.

How does a project start?

Most projects begin with a conversation about the home, the openings, and your goals, often from photos or plans. From there we narrow the right products and provide a clear quote before anything is ordered.

Do you handle installation, or only supply?

Both. Our installation crews are skilled carpenters who specialize in windows and doors, and we stay involved through delivery, install, and warranty. We also supply on a supply-only basis for builders managing their own labor.

How long will my project take?

Lead times vary by manufacturer, material, and customization. Premium wood and clad products and approval-driven historic work take longer. We set realistic expectations once we understand the scope.

Start at step one.

You do not need to have every detail figured out. Bring us the plan, the photo, the opening, or the question, and we will help you understand the right next step.
